We had a truly wonderful evening at our Fundraising Concert with the Irish Doctors Orchestra at the SETU Arena on 29 September. Led by conductor Liam Daly and joined by special guests the Waterford Harp Ensemble of Music Generation Waterford, the concert was attended by over 600 hardy music lovers who braved the harsh weather to be enthralled by the exquisite performance and to generously support Réalta/Waterford Healing Arts. We’re thrilled to announce that over €12,000 was raised! All proceeds will go to our arts + health programmes at University Hospital Waterford, seeking to lift spirits and ease stress, anxiety and worry among patients, families and staff.
Our heartfelt thanks to all the members of the Irish Doctors Orchestra, their Committee and Liam Daly for choosing our organisation as the beneficiary charity of this concert and for their tremendous commitment, putting in hundreds of hours of practice and rehearsal; To the Waterford Harp Ensemble of Music Generation Waterford for sharing their abundant talent in that very special opening to the second half of the concert; To the amazing audience, for turning up in such fantastic numbers, and for the many people who bought tickets to support us, even though they couldn’t attend; to our fantastic Fundraising Committee, led by Chair Shirley O’Shea; to our generous programme sponsors; to Gareth McCloskey for the beautiful programme design, and City Print in Cork for looking after us on printing; to Marley Irish, for so generously donating her painting Wildflowers for our raffle; to Paul and all the venue team at SETU; to Clive and the Order of Malta, Waterford, for making sure the doctors could focus on their music for the afternoon; to our wonderful media in Waterford – The Munster Express, Waterford News & Star and WLRfm – for their generous support always; to all who helped out on the day, on their own time, and to the families and friends of everyone involved, for listening and supporting us all over the last many months.
